Independent review finds officer misused information gleaned from six-year-old ‘cardi

An independent watchdog says an Ottawa police officer engaged in “discreditable conduct” when he charged a man with a traffic offence because of information gleaned from “carding.” But in a decision dated Jan. 18, the Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIPRD) found the misconduct to be less serious, requiring no formal disciplinary measures.
