Dear International Students

You are invited to join us for a ‘Unique Canadian Experience’ on Saturday March 2nd 11:00 AM -7:00PM when we plan to visit a typical pioneer farm with farmhouse, barns and animals, and see how the first settlers lived in Canada just 100+ years ago. You will also be able to taste snow toffee, and see where Maple syrup comes from, how it is collected and made into syrup, toffee, and sugar.

Cost will be 5.00$ which will partly cover the entrance fee to enter the farm. Children will be charged 2.00$ for the entrance fee, but children under two years of age enter for free.

Bring extra money to buy samples of Maple sugar products for yourself. We will also have Maple syrup for you to taste at supper time.

Pickup will be at the University of Ottawa in the University Centre by the Alumni Auditorium at 11:00AM (or preferably before)

Or

At Carleton University inside the front door of the Minto Building at 11:00AM (preferably before)

Please be on time. We do not want to leave anyone behind.

Come and bring your friends

Please reply to Bev at FAW@primus.caif you plan to come andwhere you will be for pickup

A snack of nuts will be provided at the farm and supper at 5:30 PM

Please eat a late breakfast or an early lunch. We will not provide lunch for you

Bring snow boots as the snow may be deeper on the farm than in the city, or it may be muddy or slushy. I will supply a few toboggans for those with small children. There will be a lot of walking and small children may need a toboggan. Please mention it if you will need one.

If the snow is a little wet and can be packed we hope to see some of you making snowmen or snow sculptures. Bring mittens in case you need them.

This event is sponsored by ‘Friends Around the World’

We are a Christian club working in association with ‘International Student Ministries Canada’ and seek to welcome International students to our country and make your experience an enjoyable and culturally learning Canadian experience. We respect the beliefs of all countries and religious groups.
