Case of Ottawa grocery store robber among appeals of mandatory sentences

The robbery conviction of a Smiths Falls man is one of six cases that will go before the Court of Appeal for Ontario this week among what are expected to be landmark cases on mandatory minimum sentences for gun crimes. Matthew Rocheleau, 24 at the time, was sentenced to eight years in prison in August 2010 for a series of armed robberies of Ottawa-area grocery stores.
