Man, 19, found guilty of assault for ‘predatory’ bear hug on female student

A Carleton University student who went out of his way to put a woman in a bear hug was found guilty of assault Friday. Ontario Court Justice Diane Lahaie found 19-year-old Oluwatimileh Akindele’s actions “had the appearance of predatory behaviour” when he followed a woman across Sunnyside Avenue and wrapped his arms around her at 1 a.m. on Nov. 6, 2011. The frightened woman screamed and Akindele let go after a second.
