Ottawa landmarks to go dark in observance of Earth Hour

OTTAWA — Many of Ottawa’s well-lit landmarks will go dark for an hour Saturday evening, as communities around the world turn off the lights for Earth Hour. Ottawa Police will turn off the illuminated “ottawapolice.ca” sign on the south side of their Elgin Street headquarters. The City of Ottawa will turn off the lights in City Hall as well as in the city buildings at 100 Constellation, Ben Franklin Place and the Swansea Municipal Building. Even the Parliament Buildings will go dark from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
