OTTAWA — Water levels in the Rideau River system are at or near normal and the risk of flooding is decreasing daily, the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority said Wednesday. Peak flow on the Rideau occurred on April 1. There hasn’t been much rainfall since then — several predicted storms never materialized — so the snowmelt has been gradual. The flood risk also decreases as the ground thaws and is able to absorb more water, the authority says.
