Parliament seeks new poet laureate

The search is on for a new parliamentary poet laureate, who must a francophone. Earlier this week, Canada’s Parliament issued a call for nominations for a new poet laureate to replace Fred Wah, whose two-year term ends in December. Under established practice, the office rotates between Canada’s two official language communities, and that’s why the new poet laureate must be someone whose first language is French.
