Days after Thomas G. Assaly learned that a group of Ottawa investors had asked the court to investigate what happened to more than $3.3 million they invested in two of his real estate projects, he transferred almost all remaining funds from his charitable foundation’s accounts to a company he owns in the United States, according to a court-appointed inspector.
