Judge finds officer’s ‘inappropriate relationship’ did not influence investigation

OTTAWA — An Ottawa police detective’s “inappropriate relationship” with a woman who reported that her husband abused her did not influence the investigation, a judge ruled Thursday. Justice Charles Hackland found the husband guilty of assaulting and threatening his wife between April 2009 and August 2010. The man cannot be named because it could identify his wife.
