Ottawa Public Health (OPH) and By-law and Regulatory Services would like to remind residents and visitors of the City of Ottawa’s smoke-free regulations that cover all municipal properties, including parks, beaches, sports fields and adjoining parking lots. The smoke-free regulations, which came into effect last year, are designed to protect non-smokers and children from second-hand smoke, and to reduce smoking rates in the general population.
To help ensure everyone can enjoy Ottawa’s outdoor spaces; residents can contactServiceOttawa online or call 3-1-1 to provide feedback or report violations of smoke-free regulations.
The City’s smoke-free regulations include the following:
  • Outdoor areas on municipal properties including parks, playgrounds and the adjoining parking lots;
  • Sports fields include areas such as soccer pitches, baseball diamonds, basketball and tennis courts;
  • City of Ottawa properties and buildings;
  • The City of Ottawa’s five supervised beaches;
  • All events staged on municipal properties;
  • ByWard and Parkdale Market stands;
  • Outdoor restaurant, bar and food premise patios.
For more information about smoke-free regulations or for help to quit smoking, residents can call the Ottawa Public Health Information Line at 613-580-6744 (TTY: 613-580-9656), e-mail healthsante@ottawa.ca or visit ottawa.ca/health. Residents can also connect with OPH onFacebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Tumblr,
