since it's a non-refundable credit item, your combined tax is gonna come out the same regardless of who makes the claim, assuming either of you can fully utilize the credit. some tax software defaults this credit on lower income spouse. try F2 to override it and change it to the other spouse. it it doesn't work, sorry you may need to consult the turbo tax tech support.
