sad. why chinese can not accept the fact that someone else are
stronger, richer, clever and deserve a better life?
my suggestion is discussion is good. Show your ability in public.
You manager will know your level. And your competetor will know
there is no hope to be in the same group with you. They can do
nothing but admire you if they don't want to quit the job.
Remember, Only the strongest can survive!

Why do you try giving your competetor this kind of feeling?

There are a lot of ways to beat your competetor, like get your job well done, or better design proposal, but not in the public front discussion.

Lots of Chinese will think your aggressive dispute manner in discussion of the topic related to one/some chinese is great offence to him.

I apprieciate if you could use aggressive manner towards all races, not only chinese.

Frankly speaking, with the downsizing of the IT industry, there are a lot of people who can do coding. One aggressive genius programmer A will not be highly treated as before. While the other programmer, B, whose coding speed maybe slower than A. But most people feel comfortable working with B. A got laid off during downsizing.
Believe it or not? You will see.

确实应该在工作中表现你的能力,但不是通过和别人争论问题,我从没看到公司里的任何人就工作问题发生争论,和别人有不同意见时,只是把自己的意见提出来,根本评论别人的意见,然后大家讨论出一个最佳方案,争论只是浪费时间,不解决问题。

如果你非要通过和别人争论的方式表现你的聪明,那么请别选中国人做你的对手,中国人在这里生存得已经很艰难了,不要以为他们比你更容易地找到工作,也会容易地找到下一份工作。如果只是有人比你更具攻击性(aggressive),而导致你丢掉了饭碗,你会很好受吗?为什么我们中国人不能互相支持,互相提携呢?己所不欲,勿施于人。
