Ferry company to host fundraiser for injured employee

Quyon Ferry will hold a fundraiser Friday in support of Harold McKenny, whose arm was severed during a workplace accident in early July. McKenny, 33, was helping move a new, 250-tonne, not-yet-operational ferry from one bay of the Quyon Ferry dock to another when a guide rope became too tight. When McKenny tried to loosen it, the slack rope behind him on the deck shot forward, hitting him with such force his right arm was severed just below the elbow. The limb was too badly crushed to be re-attached.
