that is Japanese car, also is the reason their transmission life a little longer than domestic car.
most domestic car normal are 80000km, at least I know GM and Dodge say this number in manual.
i did not own Ford car, so I could not say about it.

domestic car has to do every 2 years. otherwise rebuild work goes on.

no, at least in my case, it is wrong.
I just follow the manual, 80000km or 4-5 years, transmission nothing wrong with my 3 domestic cars.
so I say that the 40000km stands you mentioned is only for Japanese car, or some other speical cars.
