Ottawa – Starting Friday, October 18, work will commence on the Chapman Mills and Beatrice Drive Intersection Improvement. This work is the first phase of the Chapman Mills Drive Roadway Improvement project.
This construction will involve the widening of Beatrice Drive to accommodate left turning lanes, the installation of new traffic signals and road resurfacing.
Construction is anticipated to last until mid-December. During this time motorists and cyclists can expect intermittent lane reductions at this intersection. Signs will be in place to guide pedestrians and, given the proximity of this site to St. Emily School, the City has placed two crossing guards to guide pedestrian traffic before and after school.
Transit riders utilizing Route 77 or 176 are advised that Transit Stop 1579 - Beatrice/Chapman Mills will be temporarily re-located north of the existing stop on Beatrice Drive. Regular service will be maintained.
The Chapman Mills Drive Roadway Improvement project is a $5.4 million project that will improve road safety along Chapman Mills Drive while also preparing for the introduction of bus rapid transit along this corridor. For more information, visit

The Chapman Mills Drive Roadway Improvement is an Ottawa on the Move project. Ottawa on the Move is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water, and sewer projects to build a better city and create jobs.
