Ottawa – A section of Trim Road between Portobello Boulevard and Valin Street will be closed starting at
7 p.m. on Friday, October 18 until Sunday morning on October 20 to allow for works required to open a section of the new Trim Road alignment between Dairy Road and Valin Street.
Over the weekend, traffic along Trim Road will be rerouted by way of Valin Street and Portobello Boulevard. Detours will be clearly marked and access to existing businesses and residences will be maintained. OC Transpo service will not be affected by the weekend road closure.
Once the extension opens, OC Transpo bus stops along this section of existing Trim Road will be relocated to the new Trim Road. Pedestrians and cyclists are encouraged to use the new multi-use pathways that have been constructed along the new Trim Road corridor.
Construction will continue on Trim Road between the North Service Road and Innes Road into 2014. Variable Message Signs will be posted in the vicinity of this construction activity and detour signage will be in place to guide motorists.
This much-anticipated, $53 million infrastructure project includes the widening and re-alignment of Trim Road from North Service Road to Innes Road and the construction of two roundabouts. The project also involves the widening of St. Joseph Boulevard west of Trim Road; the widening of Old Montreal Road; and the extension of the watermain on St. Joseph Boulevard from Second Avenue to Trim Road.
Trim Road Widening and Realignment is an
Ottawa on the Move project. Ottawa on the Move is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water, and sewer projects to build a better city and create jobs.
