Council to back push to stiffen penalties for bus driver assaults

City council will likely throw their support behind a federal private members bill that aims to change Canadian laws to create harsher penalties for people convicted of assaulting on-duty bus driver. Ralph Goodale is calling on the Conservative government to help him fast-track his private members bill to a vote in Parliament, which could bring the changes as early as December.
