Ottawa – On November 5, 2013 borehole drilling will be taking place on several streets in the Carling Avenue area and will occur for approximately two weeks. The drilling is part of the geotechnical work associated with a planned construction work.
The borehole drilling will take place on Carling Avenue, Irving Place, Laurentian Place, Oakville Avenue and Lynwood Avenue. Traffic impacts on Irving Place, Laurentian Place, Lynwood Avenue and Oakvale Avenue are expected to be minor.
The drilling on Carling Avenue, between Irving Place and Fairmont Avenue, will occur during off-peak hours between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and will be restricted to the north side of the roadway. The work will take approximately one day to complete. Two lanes of westbound traffic will remain open for commuters. During this time OC Transpo service will also be maintained.
With all of the construction-related activities underway across the city, residents are encouraged to be flexible with commuting times, stagger work hours or use other alternative means for travel. The public is asked to consider options such as transit, walking, cycling or carpooling.
