Ottawa – On November 10, a gas line leak prompted the closure of the right hand lane on Highway 417 westbound between Belfast and the Vanier Parkway. The cause of the leak is related to Highway 417 construction activities and RTG, the Highway Contractor, is working closely with Enbridge to resolve the issue safely and as quickly as possible.

This closure will remain in effect until early next week in order to accommodate repairs to the gas line, reducing that section of Highway 417 westbound to two lanes. Enbridge is also conducting work along Tremblay Road as part of this response.

Where possible, residents are encouraged to use OC Transpo for their commute and to stagger their commute towards either the beginning or the end of rush hour. Residents who must drive to work are advised to consider alternate routes.

Residents are also reminded to please pull to the side of the road to accommodate the movement of emergency vehicles and to stay out of the bus lanes.

The City of Ottawa has tools on ottawa.ca to help motorists and transit users plan their routes and manage their commute including:

Further information concerning ongoing City roadwork is available on ottawa.ca.
