Hi,

Is there anybody who has experience bring cat cross the US border (driving through) recently? The information I got so far is:
(1) Vet certificate which is issued within 10 days.
(2) Rabie shot which is taken 30 days before but within 12 months

My questions are:
(1)Is the information up to date?
(2)How strict is the rule? Even if I take the cat for the rabie shot now, it will be within 30 days.

I couldn't find any information from the official site. If you know of any website, please let me know.

Thanks

That sounds good, but call up the border office to find out.

Thank you Jianjian. Very useful information. I will definately contact the custom just to make sure.

I felt quite nervous to travel with the cat. My cat doesn't like being in the car at all. I have also bookmarked several useful links on the web. Good thing is that there are plenty of people have experiences with it and is willing to share their tricks and tips. There are still quite a lot homework for me to do before I start.

If you want my advice, DO NOT bring the cat with you! Cats generally hate cars, they get extremely nervous and keep meowing all the way, particularly when you pass a bridge or elevated roads where the bottom is empty. It's a torture for them. Ask for your friends to catsit. Post a message here, I'm sure plenty of people want to do that for a few days. :)
