  《慧语莲灯》是堪布慈诚罗珠自2011年3月份以来的微博精选集。共收366条,寓意一年366日。内容编辑按照“春生、夏长、秋收、冬藏”的季节轮回进行分类。在辑封设计上分别对应绿、红、黄、蓝四种颜色,并以佛教八吉祥图案中英文双解贯穿,故取名为“四季语录”。

作者简介
  堪布慈诚罗珠为藏传佛教高僧,1962年出生于四川省甘孜州的炉霍县境内。22岁时在色达喇荣五明佛学院剃度出家,此后即开始长时依止在法王晋美彭措座前。二十多年来,始终精进闻思显密法要,并一一通达。后来通过严格的层层考核,最终获得法王晋美彭措亲赐的三藏堪布学位。后常随法王晋美彭措左右,作为出行各地朝拜、讲学、弘法时的侍者与翻译。慈诚罗珠堪布极力倡导戒杀放生。二十多年来于学院担任教学重任,培育出为数众多的僧才。二十世纪九十年代到台湾地区及新加坡、马来西亚等国弘法。近年来深入各藏区,宣导戒杀护生、护生救生、素食、环保的理念,同时讲授基础佛学正见,深化信教群众对佛法的认知。

  大乘佛教徒不崇拜鬼神,而崇拜彻底觉悟的人;不追求神通,而追求智慧和慈悲;不向往天堂,而希望利他;不脱离世间,而超越轮回。

  Mahayana Buddhists do not worship ghosts or spirits but revere those who are completely enlightened; do not seek supernatural power but pursue wisdom and compassion; do not aspire to go to heaven but to benefit others; do not forsake but transcend samsara.
 
在任何时候、任何环境里,我们能否活得幸福,都取决于自己的内心,而并非受制于环境是否舒适。既然如此,为什么我们不训练内心,却拼命地想改变环境呢?

  Whether we can live a happy life at any time, any place all depends on our minds, not the condition of external environment. If so, why don’t we train our minds instead of trying so hard to change the environment we are in?
 
人类历史上最伟大的发现和成就,不是艺术和科技,而是正确地认识到自身的无知和疯狂,以及解决这些问题的原理和方法。因为只有它们,才能给我们带来最终极的自由和幸福。

  The greatest discovery and achievement in the human history is not arts or science but to properly recognize our own ignorance and irrationality as well as the basics and the methods for solving these problem. Because only through such knowledge can we attain the ultimate freedom and happiness.
 
未来,是一个无边的未知区域,在这个区域里,什么都有可能发生。因为一切会随着因缘而变化,而因缘又是不可预知且变化多端的,谁也无法知道它的轨迹。但若能把握住当下,就能主宰未来。

  The future is an unknown territory where anything can happen. All phenomena will change with the causes and conditions. As the causes and conditions are unpredictable and constantly changing, no one knows what courses they will take. However, if one can keep the moment of now in hand, one has the future in control as well
 
能否解开内心的奥秘,涉及我们的整个前途。所有的幸福与痛苦,都来自于两个字,那就是 “迷”与“悟”。

  Our future depends on whether we are able to resolve the profound mystery of mind. All happiness and suffering originate from two sources, wisdom and ignorance, respectively.
 
痛苦由烦恼产生,烦恼由执着产生,执着由愚昧产生。愚昧或无明,是一切痛苦的根源。断除这个根源需要智慧,所以我们要修学佛陀的智慧。

  Suffering comes from defilement, defilement from grasping and clinging to the self-existence of phenomena, grasping and clinging from ignorance. Ignorance, being the source of all suffering, can only be eradicated by wisdom and hence the necessity of gaining the wisdom of the Buddha.
 
即使站在地球的最高峰,也看不见地球是球形的。那是因为我们所在的高度不够,只能看见周围狭小的空间。同样,站在任何世俗学者的肩膀上,也看不见此生生命的前后世,那是因为见解不够高,只能看见眼前的几十年。
  
We cannot see that the Earth is spherical even standing on the highest peak of the world, because that height still only allows us to see a limited space around. Similarly, standing on the shoulders of any scholars of the secular world cannot make us see our pastand future lives, other than the few decades of this life, because our view has not advanced enough.
 
一滴水,是一个浩瀚无垠的宇宙;一个宇宙,同时也是一滴水。时空本身是没有界限的。一切限制,都是我们的感知创造的。在感官世界中,一切都显得似乎很真实。我们应该寻求超越感官控制的智慧,建立全新的世界观,过最有意义的人生。

  A drop of water and the infinite universe are one and the same,inseparable. Time and space have no bounds. All the boundaries are created by our sense consciousnesses. In the world of the senses,all phenomena seem very real. We should seek the kind of wisdom that goes beyond the control of the senses, form a brand new world view and live in a way that is most meaningful.
 
所有修法当中,寿命无常的修法特别重要。当人们想起寿命无常的时候,一定会珍惜当下的一切,所以我们要多思维无常之理。

  Among all the practices, the practice of impermanence of life is particularly important. When people think about the impermanent nature of their lives, what is at hand now becomes all the more precious. It is therefore beneficial for us to contemplate the truth of impermanence more frequently.
 
善恶因果是一切生命共同的自然法则。它超越了所有人为的法律,是天底下最公正的法律。因此,我们每个人都必须严格遵守这一法则。
  Causality is the natural law for all living beings, which surpasses all man-made laws and is the most impartial in the world.Thus, we should all abide by it strictly.
 
佛教认为:生活中的痛苦不是神的安排,而是自己的愚昧造成的;生命中的幸福也不是神的恩赐,而是自己的智慧创造的。

  Buddhism holds that suffering in life is not the design of the gods, but the result of one’s own ignorance; happiness in life is not the blessing of the gods, but the achievement through one’s own wisdom.
 
修行的目的,不是为了让我们不老、不死、不穷,而是为了让我们更加慈悲、更有智慧、更能利益众生

  The purpose for taking up spiritual practice is not to keep us from getting old, dying, or becoming poor but to help us cultivate more loving-kindness, compassion and wisdom in order to benefit other beings more capably.
 
上午在海边散步,看到很多人在大海里游泳,在沙滩上晒太阳,玩各种游乐设施。同样都是大海,在这个岛上给人们带来快乐、喜悦,却在另一个岛上摧毁了众多人的生命和家园。同样,我们的心既能让我们永久幸福,也使我们彻底失败。因此,我们必须注意内心的活动。
  I took a walk on the beach this morning and saw people either swimming, sun-bathing or having fun with other beach facilities.The same ocean brings happiness and merriment to people on this island but destroys many lives and homes on the other island.Similarly, our minds can either let us find lasting happiness or make us fail completely. It is therefore necessary to keep an eyeon what mind is doing.
