Today is October 5th 2012, August 20th in Chinese lunar calendar, a very common day.
抬頭觀天，風輕雲淡。
俯首察地，秋色茫茫。
Look up and observe the sky where it is clear with light wind and clouds.
Look down and examine the earth where it is autumn vast in due course.
靜坐窗前，閉目返照。
波瀾不驚，萬象俱寂。
Sit quietly in front of the window and close my eyes reflecting inwardly.
Where it is tranquil deep down and all phenomena is still.
明覺了了，不一不異。
圓融太虛，不來不去。
Clearly realize that all is one in the same.
Perfectly harmonize the void without coming or going.
心血來潮，悲從心起。
欲語還休，一聲歎息！
Hit by a sudden impulse that a sorrow arises from the heart.
Wanted to say something but ended with a sigh!
呵呵，今日閑來無事，突然想起一個詞“諾亞方舟”，於是上網搜一搜。摘錄網上資料片段如下：

諾亞方舟（希伯來語：תיבת נח，英語：Noah's Ark），又譯挪亞方舟，是基督教聖經的《創世紀》和亞伯拉罕諸教中，傳說一艘根據上帝的指示而建造的大船，其依原說記載為方形船隻，但也有許多的形象繪畫描繪為近似船形船隻，其建造的目的是為了讓諾亞與他的家人，以及世界上的各種陸上生物能夠躲避一場上帝因故而造的大洪水災難，記載中諾亞方舟花了120年才建成，這段故事分別被紀錄在《創世記》（包括《舊約聖經》和《希伯來聖經》）以及伊斯蘭教的《古蘭經》第6章到第9章。
Noah’s Ark(Hebrew: תיבת נח, English: Noah’s Ark), was a huge ship constructed according to the instructions of God in Genesis of the Christian Bible and teachings of Abraham. It was said in original records a square boat, but there were also many image paintings depicting it an approximate boat-shaped vessel. The purpose of constructing of which was to allow Noah and his families as well as a variety of land creatures in the world to evade a big flood disaster created by God for some reason. The records say that it took 120 years to complete the construction of Noah’s Ark. The story was recorded respectively in the Genesis (includingthe Old Testament and Hebrew Bible) and in Chapter 6-9 of the Islamic Koran.
上帝對諾亞說：你要用歌斐木（柏木）造一隻方舟，分一間一間的造，裡外抹上松香。方舟的造法乃是這樣：要長300肘（古代長度單位，1肘=0.44米），寬50肘，高30肘……你和你的全家都要進入方舟，凡潔淨的畜類你要帶七公七母，不潔淨的畜類你要帶一公一母，空中的飛鳥也要帶七公七母。因為再過7天，我要在地上降雨40晝夜，把我所造的各種活物，都從地上除滅。
God said to Noah: You shall build an ark out of gopher wood and the vessel cabins of the ark should be built one by one and paint them with pitch within and without. The specifications of the ark should be like this: 300 cubits long (ancient unit of length, 1 cubit= 0.44 m), 50 cubits wide and 30 cubits high......You and your families shall enter the ark; every pure beasts you shall take seven pairs of males and females; every impure beasts you shall take one pairs of male and female; and birds of the air you shall take seven pairs of males and females. Because seven days later I shall rain for 40 days and nights onto the ground to destroy all living beings that I have made.
諾亞就遵循著上帝的吩咐行事了。
Noah then followed God’s command and acted.
當人和各樣活物都進去之後，過了7天，洪水氾濫在地上。大淵的泉源都裂開了，天上的窗戶也敞開了。水勢在地上極其浩大，天下的高山都淹沒了。2月17日，方舟停在阿拉臘山上。--《聖經-創世記》
Seven days after every living creature entering the ark, the ground was flooded. All the fountains of the great deep broken up and the windows of heaven were opened. The flow of water on the ground is extremely vast that all high mountains under heaven were submerged. On February 17, the ark docked by the mountainof Ararat.—The Bible- Genesis
諾亞方舟（Noah's Ark）是出自聖經《創世記》中的一個引人入勝的傳說。由於偷吃禁果，亞當夏娃被逐出伊甸園。亞當活了930歲，他和夏娃的子女無數，他們的後代子孫傳宗接代，越來越多，逐漸遍佈整個大地。此後，該隱誅弟，揭開了人類互相殘殺的序幕。人類打著原罪的烙印，上帝詛咒了土地，人們不得不付出艱辛的勞動才能果腹，並且因著墮落的本性人的怨恨與惡念與日俱增。人們無休止地相互廝殺、爭鬥、掠奪，人世間的暴力和罪惡簡直到了無以復加的地步。
Noah’s Arkis a fascinating legend from the Bible Genesis. Because of eating the forbidden fruit, Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden. Adam had lived for 930 years, he and Even had many children; as their children and grandchildren continued the family line, more and more of their descendents were gradually throughout the earth. Thereafter, Cain killing his brother uncovered the prelude to the humans of killing each other. Humans were marked the stigma of original sin and God cursed the land; therefore, people had to pay hard work in order to feed themselves, and their resentment and evil thoughts were gradually increasing because of their fallen nature. People endlessly fight each other，and quarreling,looting, violence and sin of the world had gone to the extreme point.
上帝看到了這一切，他非常後悔造了人，對人類犯下的罪孽心裡十分憂傷。上帝說："我要將所造的人和走獸並昆蟲以及空中的飛鳥都從地上消滅。"在罪孽深重的人群中，只有諾亞在上帝眼前蒙恩。上帝認為他是一個義人，很守本分；他的三個兒子在父親的嚴格教育下也沒有誤入歧途。諾亞也常告誡周圍的人們，應該趕快停止作惡，從充滿罪惡的生活中擺脫出來。但人們對他的話都不以為然，繼續我行我素，一味地作惡享樂。
Upon seeing this, the God was very sorry for his creating humans and felt very sad to the sins committed by humans. The God said: “I shall eliminate all humans, beasts, insects and fowls of the air that I’ve created on the earth.” Among the sinful humans, only Noah was found favor in God’s sight. God thinks he is a righteous man who is very dutiful. His three sons also didn’t go astray under their father’s strict education. Noah also often warned people around that they should stop committing crimes to get out of their sinful life. However, those people did not listen to his words but continued their own way of life and blindly indulged in evil pleasures.
上帝選中了諾亞一家：諾亞夫婦、三個兒子及其媳婦，作為新一代人類的種子保存下來。上帝告訴他們要用洪水實施大毀滅，要他們用歌斐木造一隻方舟，分一間一間的造，裡外抹上松香。這只方舟要長300肘、寬50肘、高30肘。方舟上邊要留有透光的窗戶，旁邊要開一道門。方舟要分上中下三層。他們立即照辦。
God chose Noah and his family as the seeds of a new generation of humans to be preserved. They are Noah and his wife, his three sons and his daughters-in-law. God told them that He shall implement a great destruction by flood; asked them to build an ark out of gopher wood and cabins of the ark should be built one by one with pitch painting within and without. The ark should be built 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide and 30 cubits high. There shall be windows left on the top in case to let in the sunshine and next to the windows there should be doors. The ark should be divided into three layers. They do so immediately.
上帝看到方舟造好了，就說："看哪，我要使洪水在地上氾濫，毀滅天下，凡地上有血肉、有氣息的活物無一不死。我卻要與你立約，你同你的妻子、兒子、兒媳都要進入方舟。凡潔淨的畜類，你要帶七公七母；不潔淨的畜類，你要帶一公一母；空中的飛鳥也要帶七公七母。這些都可以留種，將來在地上生殖。"
Seeing the ark was completed, the God said：“Behold, I shall make flood overflowing the ground to destroy all under heaven where all creatures with flesh and breath shall die, but I shall covenant with you that you and your wife, sons and daughters-in-law enter the ark. For every pure beast, you should take seven pairs of males and females; beasts that are impure, you should take one pairs of male and female; every fowl of the air, you should take seven pairs of males and females. These can be saved as seeds to reproduce on the ground in the future.”
2月17日那天，諾亞600歲生辰，海洋的泉源都裂開了，巨大的水柱從地下噴射而出；天上的窗戶都敞開了，大雨日夜不停，降了整整40天。水無處可流，迅速地上漲，比最高的山巔都要高出15肘。凡是在旱地上靠肺呼吸的動物都死了，只留下方舟裡人和動物的種子安然無恙。方舟載著上帝的厚望漂泊在無邊無際的汪洋上。
On February 17, the birthday of Noah, the fountains of oceans cracked and huge columns of water spouted from the underground; the windows of heaven were opened and heavy rain poured down all day long for an entire of 40 days. There was nowhere for the water flow and quickly it rose to be 15 cubits higher than the highest mountaintop.
All animals of pulmonary respiration on the dry land were dead, leaving only those seeds of humans and animals safe and sound. The ark carrying the high expectations of God drifted on the boundless ocean.
上帝顧念諾亞和方舟中的飛禽走獸，便下令止雨興風，風吹著水，水勢漸漸消退。諾亞方舟停靠在阿拉臘山上。又過了幾十天，諾亞打開方舟的窗戶，放出一隻烏鴉去探聽消息，但烏鴉一去不回。諾亞又把一隻鴿子放出去，要它去看看地上的水退了沒有。由於遍地是水，鴿子找不到落腳之處，又飛回方舟。七天之後，諾亞又把鴿子放出去，黃昏時分，鴿子飛回來了，嘴裡銜著橄欖葉，很明顯是從樹上啄下來的。再過7天，諾亞又放出鴿子，這次鴿子不再回來了。
Caring for Noah and the birds and beasts in theArk, God ordered to stop the rain and rise up the wind; blowing by the wind, the water gradually subsided. Noah’sArkwas docked by themountainofArarat. After dozens of days, Noah opened the windows of the ark and released a raven out to fish for information, but the raven never came back. Again Noah freed a dove and let it out to see whether the water had subsided or not. As the ground was covered with water, the dove could not find a place to stay and it flied back to the ark. Another seven days later, Noah again let out a dove and at dusk it flew back with an olive leaf in its mouth, obviously which were pecked down from the tree. Another seven days later, Noah sent out the dove again, but it didn’t come back that time.
諾亞601歲那年的1月1日，地上的水都退幹了。諾亞開門觀望，地上的水退淨了。到2月27日，大地全幹了。於是，上帝對諾亞說：“你和妻兒媳婦可以出舟了。你要把和你同在舟裡的所有飛鳥，動物和一切爬行生物都帶出來，讓它們在地上繁衍滋長吧。”於是，諾亞全家和方舟裡的其他所有生物，都按著種類出來了。後世的人們就用鴿子和橄欖枝來象徵和平。
On January 1, the day when Noah was 601 years old, water on the ground subsided completely. Noah opened the door seeing that water on the ground had completely retreated. On February 27, the earth was dried up completely. Thereupon, God told Noah: “You and your families can get out of the ark; you need to take out all the fowls, beasts and all crawling animals and let them reproduce and develop.” Thereupon, Noah and his families and all other creatures in the ark came out of the ark by categories. From then on, the later generations of people symbolize peace with dove and olive branch.
這就是“諾亞方舟”故事的由來，雖然是個傳說，但由聖經》中記載的很多事情都被證實是真實的，譬如，在一次戰爭中，一位元軍官根據《聖經》中的記載，成功地找到了大山裡的一條秘密小道，並通過這條小道突然出現在敵人面前，取得巨大勝利。如果能證明“諾亞方舟”也是真實的，那麼這個發現肯定將在全世界引起轟動。所以，很多年以來，許多國家的聖經考古學家 都希望揭開千古之謎。
This is the origin of the story of Noah’sArk.Although it is a legend, a lot of stories recorded in the Bible were proved to be true. For example, there was a time in a war, an army officer, according to the records in the Bible, had successfully found a secret path in a mountain and through the path they suddenly appeared in front of enemies and made a great victory. If “Noah’sArk” could be proved to be true, then this discovery would certainly cause a sensation in the world. So, the Bible archaeologists in many countries hope to uncover the mystery since many years ago.
