City flags will be flown half-mast in remembrance of Nelson Mandela

Ottawa – The flags at all City of Ottawa sites will be flown at half-mast from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, December 15, 2013, day of the state funeral of His Excellency Mr. Nelson Mandela, O.M.P., O.M., C.C., A.C., C.S.G., Q.C., who passed away on December 5, 2013.

Mr. Mandela received honorary Canadian citizenship in 2001, one of only six international figures bestowed with this honour.

Mr. Mandela is admired around our nation and the world for his spirit, unselfish commitment and perseverance for civil rights and liberties.
