Ottawa – Beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, the west bound left lane of Highway 174 near the Jeanne D’Arc Boulevard overpass will be closed. This lane closure will be in place until early Thursday morning, weather permitting.
This lane closure is required for the City to undertake geotechnical work related to the Orléans Watermain Link construction project.
Commuters are reminded to respect signed speed limits in construction zones and should exercise caution. During all stages of the work a professional traffic control subcontractor will be present on site to ensure safety of the field crew and the by-passing traffic.
The Orléans Watermain Link is a $30 million project that will construct a large, secondary watermain to Orléans and parts of Ottawa East. This is being done in order to create greater resiliency in the water distribution system for east portions of the city. The general alignment of the water transmission main will be along Ogilvie Road from Blair to Montreal Rd for a short distance to the east of the OR 174 interchange. This project was originally identified in the 1997 Water Master Plan (RMOC), and the need for this main was re-affirmed in the 2003 Infrastructure Master Plan. It has also been identified as a top priority project in the Critical Infrastructure Identification Study.
This construction is an Ottawa on the Move project. Ottawa on the Move is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water, and sewer projects to build a better city and create jobs.
