Fire forces evacuation of Gilmour Street housing complex

A bedroom fire in a three-storey row housing complex Sunday night forced the closure of Gilmour Street between Percy and Bay streets and the evacuation of an adjoining unit. Ottawa Fire Services responded to a reported bedroom fire at 546 Gilmour St after 10 p.m. and the occupants were evacuated as crews located the main body of the fire on the second floor. Occupants of 544 Gilmour were also evacuated and the public was asked to avoid the area with hydro wires to the building hanging and creating further hazard.
