The hotel Claridge Homes wants to build on Dalhousie Street isn’t unacceptably tall, the Ontario Municipal Board has decided, but it may be too glassy and stark for the ByWard Market. The planned 48-metre hotel, which is to replace the already half-dismantled Union du Canada building, was approved by city council but neighbours appealed to the OMB. The board can overrule city council’s urban-planning decisions.
