Ottawa – On Monday, January 27, work will resume on Elgin Street at Isabella Street for the replacement of a combined sewer. The right northbound lane on Elgin Street will be closed intermittently to facilitate construction after the morning peak period every day. This work will last for approximately two months.
During this construction period there will be minimal impact on commuters, although motorists are reminded to reduce speed when traveling through construction zones. Pedestrian access to the sidewalk on the east side of Elgin Street may be impacted through this area, and signage will be posted when work activity warrants. Further mobility impacts will be reported as they occur.
The Elgin Street at Isabella Street Combined Sewer Replacement Project is a $2.6 million project that will improve water and sewer services in the area. Traffic modifications will also be implemented to improve pedestrian and cycling safety.
This project is an Ottawa on the Move project. Ottawa on the Move is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water, and sewer projects to build a better city and create jobs.
