Ottawa-based patent-licensing firm Wi-LAN Inc. said Thursday it registered $2.4-million U.S. profit in the fourth quarter, up from a $2.1-million loss in the same period last year, helped by revenues of $29.2 million that surpassed its guidance by about $1 million.
