Ottawa – Beginning Monday, February 3 intermittent lane reductions will begin on Sussex Drive, between St. Patrick Street and King Edward Avenue.

Sewer and watermain work will commence on Sussex Drive and will extend from Lady Gray Drive to Cathcart Street, throughout February and March. Lane closures will be required due to this work. Construction work will continue along the length of the project on Sussex until the end of 2014.

Utility relocation work will also commence at the St Patrick Street intersection and along the east side of Sussex Drive, from Bruyere Street to St. Patrick Street and will require some temporary lane closures in the area during this time

Work will also commence on the relocation of the buildings at 273 to 279 Sussex Drive. Single lane closures in the northbound direction are anticipated.

A minimum of one lane of traffic will be maintained on Sussex Drive in both directions at all times. Commuters may experience delays in this corridor and are reminded that reduced speed limits within the construction zone are in effect.

This work is the continuation of the Sussex Drive Reconstruction Project that began in the fall of last year. This $36 million renewal project will see new water and sewer infrastructure, improved pedestrian, cycling and transit facilities, new lighting and signage. The work will continue until the end of 2014. Final paving and landscaping will be completed in 2015.

The work being done on Sussex Drive, also known as Confederation Boulevard, is an Ottawa on the Move project. Ottawa on the Move is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water and sewer projects, to build a better city and create jobs.
