Hugh Adami: Building code rules on garages back homeowners into a corner

What gives with developers when it comes to the Ontario Building Code and home garages? If a fairly recent building-code requirement is squeezing garages to the point where parking becomes a challenge, why not make the garage a little bigger? Why stick it to the new homeowner who is more likely to sign off at closing without realizing the disparity before it is too late, and have little recourse?
