Monette breaks term-limit promise, runs for re-election in Orléans

Orléans Coun. Bob Monette has filed to run for re-election, violating a promise he made to serve no more than two full terms when he was first elected. Monette ran in a byelection to replace Herb Kreling in early 2006 and was re-elected in a general election later that year and again in 2010. That was supposed to be his last outing. But he joins Kanata North Coun. Marianne Wilkinson in deciding that although they’d said they wouldn’t run again, the work they do is too important for them to leave their jobs voluntarily.
