Associate Software Engineer
Summary
Under direct supervision conducts product research leading to new or improved products to maintain
the company’s competitive position and profitability. Creates software products based on specifications
developed in conjunction with customer application experts from other departments within the company.
Works with team lead or manager to ensure that weekly tasks and objectives are clearly understood. The
Associate Engineer is not responsible for providing these but rather for making sure he or she understands
what work is to be accomplished.
Qualification Requirements
Education:
Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent.
Experience:
Less than 3 years of experience in research and development experience
Skills:
Understands and have successfully utilized OO approach.
Development experience with Java will be considered an asset.
Development experience with makefiles and scripting languages (shell script, perl, python).
Basic knowledge of software development procedures
Good organizational, decision making and communication skills
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Development background in C and C++

• Under guidance implements code in a timely fashion and with high quality, consistent with established
standards for the group
• Unit test software components to ensure module-level functionality and data structure consistency.
• Assists in resolving basic issues found during engineering test and QA in a timely manner, taking risk
into account
• Provide documentation as appropriate including design documentation, inputs for external
specifications; system requirements specifications and end user documentation
• Participate in design and code reviews of other team members.
• Seeks assistance when required in a timely manner.
20%
• Other duties as assigned
