想做contract.以前没有做过. 那位有经验的指点以下工资的范围.是中高级的职位.

my salary was near $30/hr before(permanent), so I will ask $60/hr? I don't think they will offer me.any suggestion?

u should ask at least 60 in ur case.

Should be much higher than your rate on permanent position, as less insurance while much higher pressure and work load. But not sure it has to be doubled or not, esp. under current circumstances.

couldn't agree any more.

Quote a mail from an agency:
-----------------------------
Rate: This position has a predetermined budget and thus the rate is can be no higher than $40.00 per hour for incorporated consultants and $35.00 for sole proprietors. This rate is non-negotiable and will be firm for the
entire length of the contract. Please be aware that is an extremely competitive opportunity (with an expected large number of candidates) and thus the best qualified individuals at the best rates will be selected for interviews.

Location: Ottawa Region
....
-----------------------------------

My previous contract position is the team lead of the gang, rate is only $65/hour.

(Salary hour rate) x 2 ?
If you are holding a permenent position, maybe you can bargan. In today's market, I don't think it is a good idea to ask that much.

Does you receive mail recently? I saw those words from a agency about a OAM developer. Is it the same as yours?

Yes, it is. I bet you had realized that the market really really sucks after reading that mail.

Oh, yeah. I felt it already. Take are of yourself, everybody :)

In any cases for contracters, the rate is predetermined by the employer, it's really not up to you. Your agency is supposed to negociate the rate for you. Large corporations, i.e. Nortel, Bell don't usually sign contracts with independent contractors. Since you must go through an agency anyway, save yourself the hassel of bargaining and leave that to your agent. Remember you pay his/her salary afterall.
