Town hall for laid-off techies
By Ottawa Business Journal Staff
Fri, Jul 25, 2003 11:00 AM EST
Measures to help laid-off high-tech workers will be presented to a town hall meeting in Kanata next week.
The Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre has identified gaps in services and will offer suggestions for programs to assist laid-off techies.
"We want to keep Ottawa's best natural resource―our people―here in town. We want them to continue to make a contribution," said Peggy Feltmate, executive director of the Centre.
"Access to services like a career coach to assist in career transitions and exploration are critical needs not readily available or affordable to many laid-off workers," said laid-off worker Dave Sproule.
The town hall will be held Tuesday July 29 at 7:30 at 2 MacNeil Court in Kanata.
