Ian Boyd is only half joking when he says the Beatles have proved to be the saviours of the record industry on more than one occasion. “They saved our industry at least three times,” says the owner of both Compact Music stores on Bank Street. “They saved our industry in 1964, they saved our industry in 2000 when the album The Beatles 1 came out, and they saved our industry in 2012 when they released everything on vinyl.”
