Ottawa has lowest rate of smokers in Ontario

OTTAWA — Ottawa’s smoking rate has fallen to 11 per cent, the best in the province, public health officials said Tuesday. The latest data are from 2012 and show a significant drop from the previous smoking rate of 15 per cent, which Ottawa seemed to be stuck at between 2005 and 2011, medical officer of health Dr. Isra Levy said.
