Ottawa – Gladstone Avenue, between Bank Street and Metcalfe Street, will be closed to commuters as of 9 a.m. on Monday, April 14. This closure is necessary to complete rehabilitation work to replace existing water and sewer infrastructure. The reconstruction, which will establish a wider boulevard and wider sidewalks, is scheduled to be completed in the fall.

During the construction period, one eastbound lane will be provided for local traffic. No through traffic or on-street parking will be permitted within these two blocks. Motorists and cyclists are encouraged to choose alternate routes. Detours will be signed to guide vehicular and cyclist traffic. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the construction period. The intersections at O’Connor Street and Metcalfe Street will remain open.

OC Transpo Route 14 will be detoured to McLeod Street (westbound) and to Argyle Street (eastbound) between Elgin Street and Bank Street.

The modifications are part of a $10.9-million project to replace water and sewer infrastructure on Gladstone Avenue between Bank Street and Cartier Street. For more information, visit ottawa.ca.

The Gladstone Avenue Reconstruction/Rehabilitation Project is an Ottawa on the Move project. Ottawa on the Move is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water, and sewer projects to build a better city and create jobs.
