Ottawa - Residents are advised that the annual Mayor's Canada Day Celebration for Seniors will not take place this year.
Up until last year this event has been held annually at the Aberdeen Pavilion at Lansdowne Park. This location is still an active construction site and is not available.
An alternative venue that would accommodate up to 2,000 participants, and meet financial, logistical, location, accessibility, transit and parking needs, could not be secured.
The City of Ottawa encourages residents to take part in the many community celebrations in their neighbourhoods with friends, family and visitors.
To assist with this, in the month of June the City will post a list of community Canada Day celebrations on its website and will make this information available at City of Ottawa Client Service Centres and public libraries. Residents may also obtain this information by calling 3-1-1.
