OTTAWA — A woman who stabbed her soldier boyfriend after he broke her nose and battered her face should be spared time in jail, her lawyer argued Tuesday. But a Crown prosecutor argued that Ashley White needed to be sentenced to 12 months behind bars for angrily plunging a knife into Patrick Halcro’s chest following a disastrous and boozy date night in July 2010.
