Ottawa – During Emergency Preparedness Week, held May 4 to 10, the City of Ottawa, through its Are You Ready program, is encouraging residents to build a more resilient Ottawa by taking the time to prepare themselves, their family and their neighbours for emergencies and disasters.
The City’s website, ottawa.ca, has all the information needed to get started. Residents can also visit any of the following emergency preparedness information displays and speak with emergency management staff and Are You Ready volunteers.
Sunday, May 4
Hazeldean Mall, 300 Eagleson Road
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Monday, May 5
Mary Pitt Centre (cafeteria), 100 Constellation Crescent
11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Tuesday, May 6
St. Laurent Recreation Complex, 525 Coté Street
4:30 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday, May 7
Walter Baker Sports Centre, 100 Malvern Drive
4:30 to 8 p.m
Thursday, May 8
Algonquin College - Student Commons Building, 1385 Woodroffe Avenue
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Thursday, May 8
Ray Friel Recreation Complex, 1585 Tenth Line Road
4:30 to 8 p.m.
Friday, May 9
Ben Franklin Place, 101 Centrepointe Drive
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Emergencies can happen anytime, anyplace and often when we least expect them. Most of us keep a flashlight and first aid kit handy but are we really ready? For information and ideas about what you can do to be more prepared, visit ottawa.ca or call 3-1-1.
