Ottawa – Starting Monday, May 5, Rideau Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction from Chapel Street to the Cummings Bridge. In addition, the Augusta Street and Chapel Street intersections will be closed on the south side at Rideau Street.
Motorists, transit riders and cyclists can expect delays traveling this corridor. A minimum of one pedestrian crossing across Rideau Street will be maintained at each intersection at all times.
The Rideau Street Renewal – Phase II project is a $15.6 million initiative that will improve streetscaping and safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. It will also replace the existing combined sewer system with independent storm and sanitary sewers in support of the Ottawa River Action Plan, our city’s commitment to protect the health of the Ottawa River and provide cleaner water, safer beaches and a better environment.
