Ottawa – Celebrate Mom’s special day this weekend at a City of Ottawa museum. All events will be held on Sunday, May 11. Times, costs and activities vary.

Mother’s Day Tea – 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Billings Estate National Historic Site

Enjoy music in the gardens while sipping tea as harpists and a small group perform music from the Victorian period. Our three-tier tea service at the Estate is a great way to show the women in your life how much they mean to you. Make sure not to miss the display of musical artefacts from our collection.
Cost: Admission to the museum is free with tea room purchase. Regular tea room prices apply.

Mother’s Day May Flowers – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cumberland Heritage Village Museum

Celebrate Mother’s Day by taking part in activities and crafts that bring your family together. Have fun identifying the many different flowers and herbs, help plot out our heritage gardens, learn about the growing season, and bring home crafts as a souvenir of your day.
Cost: Regular admission

Mother’s Day Tea and Garden Party – 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Fairfields Heritage House

Every mom makes a special contribution to their family and their community. For the first time, Fairfields will be celebrating these contributions – and the contributions of the Bell family women with a tea service and garden party. Have fun playing Victorian lawn games like croquet and the game of Graces, make a special Mother’s Day card by quilling, and take a guided tour through this very special property.
Cost: $6/person, $10/pair, $16/family

Marvellous Mother’s Day – 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Nepean Museum

Try your hand at planting flowers in our garden while learning about the local horticultural society and the difference between native and non-native plants. Paint flower pots together while learning the secrets of colour mixing and a new appreciation for springtime cultivation. We are mounting new artefact displays as well that will help connect you to the past by exploring some of the most influential Nepean moms like Mary Honeywell and Ida Long.
Cost: $6/person, $10/pair, $16/family

Mother’s Day à la Art Nouveau – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Pinhey’s Point Historic Site

Getting in touch with your artistic side is a great way to spend Mother’s Day. Enjoy painting demonstrations by a professional artist coupled with hands-on learning using the landscape as your inspiration. You will gain new insights into the Art Nouveau movement by using advertising and artwork from the period to start creating your very own scrapbooks and collages. And don’t forget to cap off the day by checking out our Art Nouveau photo booth and snap a shot to take home.
Cost: $6/person, $10/pair, $16/family
