Ottawa – Laurier Avenue is now under construction between Elgin Street and Cumberland Street to allow for the expansion of the east-west bikeway. Construction is scheduled to be completed in mid-August.
A segregated bike lane will be installed on the south side of Laurier Avenue, between Elgin Street and Queen Elizabeth Drive. In addition, the north side of Laurier will be widened between Waller Street and Cumberland Street to accommodate a painted bike lane.
Construction will take place during the day, with lane closures occurring in off-peak hours. Some night work is possible, but no detours are planned. Cycling and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the construction period. Access will also be maintained to City Hall (110 Laurier Avenue West), the Ottawa Courthouse and all University of Ottawa buildings.
