Ottawa – Beginning Monday, June 2, the section of Belfast Road that crosses the 417 between Tremblay Road and Coventry Road will be closed for construction. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are advised to detour on St. Laurent Boulevard or the Vanier Parkway. This road will reopen in June 2015.
Commuters are also reminded that Belfast Road between Tremblay Road and Trainyards Drive remains closed for construction, however pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained.
This closure is necessary to complete the relocation of existing utilities, construction of tunnel structures to the new Maintenance and Storage Facility on Belfast Road, and replacement of the Belfast Bridge over Highway 417. This facility will house the operations, maintenance and storage facilities for the Confederation Line, Ottawa’s Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.
