Gatineau Sûreté du Québec flagged down a 92-year-old man Saturday after he decided to take a spin on busy Autoroute 50 on his bright red electric scooter.
SQ officials said they received several calls about the wandering rider by drivers.
They tracked him down shortly after 3 p.m. on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes, seemingly unconcerned about the heavy traffic around him.
“The officers transported the gentleman and the vehicle away from the scene,” said a Sûreté spokeswoman in Montreal.
She said she was not yet aware if any charges were laid, although scooters are banned on the highway, under the same highway code sections dealing with pedestrians.
The official did not release the man’s name.
