Ottawa – Today at the Finance and Economic Development Committee (FEDCO), Mayor Jim Watson announced that the City of Ottawa filed its claim against WSP Canada Inc., the company formerly known as Genivar, with respect to the Airport Parkway Pedestrian/Cycling Bridge.
"We are calling on Genivar to pay for the $4.6 million in costs that have resulted from their design," said Mayor Jim Watson. "This multi-million dollar claim demonstrates our commitment to holding outside consultants accountable for the role that they played in this troubled project."
On December 11, 2013, City Council directed the City Clerk and Solicitor to seek recovery from Genivar and any other party for the additional costs associated with the construction delays and changes to the design of the Bridge.
