About 12,800 Hydro Ottawa customers were being affected by power outages in the west end Wednesday.
Hydro Ottawa said it expects power to return by 2:30 p.m.
Kanata, Stittsville, Richmond, Munter and Beaverbrooke were all affected.
Traffic lights in the area are being treated as four-way stops.
A loss of supply from the provincial power grid is to blame for the outage, says Hydro Ottawa. Similar issues had caused blips in power earlier Wednesday, leaving residents in the city’s west end with on-and-off power.
Meanwhile, 360 customers around Somerset Street in downtown Ottawa were out of power Wednesday morning, with Hydro Ottawa expecting power to return to that area by 1 p.m.
Hydro Ottawa’s outage map is updated every 15 minutes with information on affected areas.
