Rideau Street is temporarily closed between Charlotte Street and the Rideau River after a construction crew accidentally nicked a natural gas line Wednesday afternoon.
The Rideau Street bridge is also closed.
Police are directing traffic in the area. Commuters are encouraged to use other routes.
The buildings at 641 and 649 Rideau St. were evacuated by fire crews as a precaution after the gas leak was reported.
