Ottawa – On May 13, 2014, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson sent a provincial issues questionnaire to the Leaders of Ontario’s four main political parties. Today the Mayor released the responses that were received to the five questions.
“Each leader and Party was asked for their position on five issues that are important to our City and residents,” said Mayor Watson. “The responses indicate that the Green Party of Ontario, the Ontario Liberal Party, and the Ontario New Democratic Party support providing provincial funding for the completion of the Ottawa River Action Plan; for Stage2 of Ottawa’s public transportation system expansion and for a new Affordable Housing Framework Agreement. These political parties also support completion of the 2008 Provincial-Municipal Fiscal Service Delivery Review Agreement on the agreed upon schedule as planned. The parties had varying responses to a question on Interest Arbitration and, regrettably, none committed to fix this broken system in a defined timeframe. The response received from the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario did not provide specific answers to any of the questions.”
The questionnaire asked Leaders of the four parties to respond to questions by June 3rd. The answers as provided can be viewed at ottawa.ca.
