Ottawa - Starting June 9, 2014, Albert Street will be under construction from City Centre Avenue to Booth Street. During the construction Albert Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Lane reductions will remain in effect until winter 2014.

The Albert Street Sewer, Watermain and Road Rehabilitation Project is a project that will replace and improve infrastructure along this corridor and modify Albert Street to permit future segregated bicycle lanes and widened sidewalks. The Albert Street construction project is a multi-year project. This year, construction will include the installation of new sewers (sanitary and storm), a new watermain, and new pavement.

Local bus routes 16 and 85 will continue to use Albert Street during the 2014 construction phase but existing bus stops may be temporarily relocated at certain times. This work is being completed at this time in advance of the Confederation Line light rail transit (LRT) project and in preparation for the Bus Rapid Transit detour along Scott and Albert Street that will begin in 2016.

This Ottawa on the Move project is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water, and sewer projects to build a better city and create jobs. For more information visit ottawa.ca.
